FAQ

The questions people ask.

What does a first session look like?+

We talk about what brought you in, the history that matters, and what would make therapy feel worth it. No pressure to share more than you're ready to.

How do EMDR and ART actually work?+

Both use bilateral stimulation (eye movements, taps) to help your brain reprocess memories that got stuck in survival mode. ART tends to be faster and image-based; EMDR is the long-standing gold standard for PTSD.

How long until I feel different?+

Many people notice shifts within a few sessions, especially with ART. Lasting change takes longer and depends on what you're working through. We'll review progress together.

Do you require sobriety to start?+

No. We meet you where you are. Active use is part of the conversation, not a disqualifier.

What about confidentiality?+

Sessions are confidential under HIPAA and Utah law. I'll explain the few legal limits at intake — no surprises.

Telehealth or in-person?+

Both. Telehealth across Utah, in-person at the Midvale office.
