Therapy for first responders in Utah — police, fire, EMS.
You might recognize this
Some of this sounds familiar.
You’re fine at work and falling apart at home — short fuse, distant, on the couch instead of in the room.
Sleep is broken. You’re either wired past 2am or out for four hours and awake.
You’ve started replaying calls, smells, scenes — not on purpose, and not when you want to.
You’re scanning rooms, sitting facing the door, jumpy at sounds civilians don’t hear.
How I help
The work, unhurried.
We move at the pace of your nervous system, not your calendar. Most weeks blend EMDR or Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) with practical, solution-focused work on sleep, anger, and the at-home version of you.
EMDR and ART help your brain reprocess the calls and shifts that got stuck on the shelf — so the memory stays, but the body stops bracing for it. We don't need to relive every detail in narrative form.
Outside of trauma work, we look at what the job has trained your system to do automatically — scanning, suppressing, isolating — and start giving it permission to stand down when it's safe.
I grew up around this culture and have worked with enough responders to know what you're not saying. You won't have to explain "mandatories" or why you can't talk about a specific call.

FAQ
Common questions.
Do I have to be in crisis to come in?+
No. Most of the responders I work with are still functioning at work — that's part of what makes it hard to ask. We can start when something feels off, not only when it falls apart.
Will what I say end up in my department file?+
No. This is a private practice. Sessions are confidential under HIPAA and Utah law. I'm not contracted with your agency and I don't share records without your written consent, outside the narrow legal limits I'll explain at intake.
I work nights and rotating shifts. Can we still meet?+
Yes. I hold telehealth and Midvale slots that work around shift schedules, including before and after panel.
You took the call.
